Summer research is off to a great start!

Loralei, Rachel, Shelbie, Jalyn, and Ella started research in the lab in May and June! They quickly mastered laboratory techniques, and now they're isolating and identifying new worms from around Duluth (despite the dry weather we've been having), troubleshooting bacterial contamination, and spearheading the experiments I've been dreaming up all spring. What a great group!
The lab work begins!

Boxes of lab equipment, supplies, and chemicals have been arriving! It's been fun to unpack and organize and imagine the lab fully up and running. To reach that goal, I've started to make some commonly used reagents!

I'm so excited to finally be here! It's a snowy wonderland outside with steaming Lake Superior just down the hill. I have to keep pinching myself. I'm looking forward to meeting students, staff, and faculty and getting my lab in shape to tackle that list of research questions that just keeps getting longer! Thanks to everyone who has welcomed me!
